Night of the Blood Moon is an indie action game created by Tyler McDermott. His first roguelike action game is about battling hordes of cartoon beings and claiming the dream world for themselves.

The Blood Moon Rises

Night of the Blood Moon takes place in the dream realm. The once peaceful dream world gets enveloped in darkness by the cursed blood moon. Players take role of the infamous Three Eyed Raven and their goal is to dominate all of the inhabitants of the dream realm. They can arm themselves with unique weapons, enhance their power and unlock helpful pets. 

Roguelike Elements

The action game features surreal environments to explore. Players traverse in environments such as the bedroom, circus and sky castle. The denizens of Dream World comprises of quirky beings ranging from musical instruments, wizards, ninjas, and even deep sea creatures. Enemies might look cute but they traverse orthogonally with different speeds and ranges on full spectrum. Pets are included to provide assistance in every level. They give players increased attributes and passives. The nightmarish but helpful pets include bats, dogs, and even nests. Players can acquire random weapons with varying attributes. Each weapon gives different playstyles. Some weapons affect positioning while players have to consider targeting first the most threatening enemy. They have to begin with basic weapons like Boomerangs, Hookshots, and Spellbooks. Their inventory will eventually grow with stronger weapons while learning how to utilize them optimally. Most bosses have unique mechanics that involves pure trial and error akin to classic arcade games. The action game encourages players to hone their skills and strategy to defeat all of the difficult bosses and reaching the true ending. 

End Game Contents

This action game comes with Eclipse Mode. Players start with an empty inventory but they will grow more powerful until their limits are truly reached. The only means of survival is purchasing ammo, health and weapons.

Ruler of Dream World

Night of the Blood Moon satisfies everything under the roguelike genre: pixel graphics with tight combat and unforgiving enemies. The Eclipse Mode meanwhile is a fun survival mode where players depend on their skills and instincts to survive waves of enemies.
